Please use our Self-Screening Aid to determine your eligibility and begin the application process. If your organization and project fit our minimum requirements, use our New Applicant Datasheet and submit a proposal that is no more than 3 pages in length.
Grant Guidelines
The Trustees of The Crowell Trust continue to follow the directives for grantmaking which Henry Parsons Crowell established in his original indenture. Mr. Crowell identified candidates for grants from among agencies whose purpose is:
- Evangelism and discipleship
- International cross-cultural missions
- International church planting
- U. S. focused missions
- Christian higher education
- Christian leadership development
All grantseekers must:
- have documentation verifying their organization is registered in the United States and classified as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
- be in compliance with the standards established by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability for governance, fundraising activities, and accounting standards including current, externally audited, financial statements.
As a general rule grants are not made to individuals, local churches, pre-kindergarten through high school education, endowment funds, land acquisition, building construction, nor to the following categories of organizations:
- Organizations which do not have a doctrinal statement or one which is not in harmony with the doctrinal statement of The Crowell Trust
- Organizations which are managed by or share facilities with a local church
- Organizations or ministries that are sponsored by or have a formal working relationship with a denomination
- Organizations which gain a substantial portion of their income through the sale of products
- New or start-up organizations with limited history of financial stability or previous ministry success
Deadlines:
- The Crowell Trust board meets twice a year to consider grant requests (Spring and Fall). Our deadlines for submitting a proposal for those board meetings are March 1 and August 1. Proposals received after the deadline may be held over for the following grant cycle.
