Are you seeking a grant for an organization that is registered in the United States as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS?
If Yes – Thank you, please proceed to the next question.
If No – The Crowell Trust is only able to award grants to non-profit organizations that are registered in the United States and classified as 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service. We are unable to fund individuals or organizations that do not meet this requirement. If you have a fiscal sponsor that meets this requirement, please proceed to Question 4.
Does your organization agree with the Doctrinal Statement of the Crowell Trust?
If Yes – Thank you, please proceed to the next question.
If No – The Crowell Trust’s mission is the “teaching and active extension of the doctrines of Evangelical Christianity”. When Mr. Crowell established The Crowell Trust he wrote very explicit explanations of what he meant by the term “Evangelical Christianity” into The Crowell Trust Indenture. In order to ensure that we are funding those projects and organizations that Mr. Crowell himself would have wanted funds from his foundation to go to, our trustees require that an organization agree with our doctrinal statement.
Is your organization sponsored by or in a formal working relationship with a denomination?
If Yes - In order to maintain our mandate to further Evangelical Christianity in general, our trustees have determined that we should not align The Crowell Trust with any specific denomination. We advise those organizations that are sponsored by or have formal relationships with denominations to seek funding through those channels that are available to them because of their ties to that denomination.
If No - Thank you, please proceed to Question 6
Are you a local church, or an organization that is managed by or shares facilities with a local church?
If Yes - As you can imagine, we receive many more requests for assistance than we are able to assist with our own limited resources. In order to prioritize our consideration, The Crowell Trust relies on a set of guidelines to help us select those projects to which we can lend financial support. Local churches and church managed organizations generally fall outside those guidelines.
If No - Thank you, please proceed to the next question.
Are you a ministry that serves a local population of a specific US city, county, or region?

If Yes - As you can imagine, we receive many more requests for assistance than we are able to assist with our own limited resources. We recommend that you direct your fund-seeking efforts towards those organizations that do not have this restriction. If there is another project that your CEO/President and Board have identified as being a priority and which you would like to seek funding for please continue.
If No - Thank you, please proceed to the next question.
Have you been in operation for more than 4 years?
If Yes - Thank you for taking our eligibility questionnaire.
If No - Thank you for taking our eligibility questionnaire. The Crowell Trust does not usually fund new or startup organizations. It would probably be a better use of your time and grant seeking efforts to connect with those sources of funding that are more open to funding newer organizations.
