Women in Leadership

April 1, 2014

One of the core priorities for the Crowell Trust is Caring for the Oppressed – Especially Women.  Images of oppression that quickly come to mind are women who have been enslaved to the sex industry or forced into marriage at a very young age.  We are appalled by these travesties and support Christian organizations that are seeking justice for all humankind.  Another form of oppression is prohibiting women from fulfilling their calling in ministry or leadership.  Are we as evangelicals guilty of our own forms of marginalization towards women?  Oppression in the form of suppression is damaging and inhibits the fullness of God’s kingdom from being expressed. For this reason, we are excited about a research study considering gender parity in Evangelical non-profit institutions. Researchers from Gordon College, Wheaton College and Calvin College will work with ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability) to survey hundreds of organizations on their gender practices.  Please watch the short video on Gordon’s website to learn more: http://www.gordon.edu/womeninleadership.
