Self-Screening Tool

  • You may submit an application through the “Apply for Grant” web page.

  • If you wish you to apply for a grant, your first step will be to submit a Letter of Inquiry.

1) Has your organization received a grant from the Crowell Trust in the last five years?

2) Does your organization align with one or more of the Crowell Trust priorities.

  • Thank you, these are the key areas of funding for the Crowell Trust.

    Evangelism and discipleship

    International cross-cultural missions

    Internationally church planting

    Holistic Gospel expressions

    Christian higher education

    Christian leadership development

Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

  • When Mr. Crowell founded The Henry Parsons Crowell and Susan Coleman Crowell Trust he specifically directed that grants be given only to projects with a strong spiritual intentionality. If your work does not fit into the work of the Crowell Trust priorities we suggest you seek funding from those sources that are more closely aligned with your organization’s purpose.

3) Are you seeking a grant for an organization that is registered in the United States as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS?

  • Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

  • The Crowell Trust is only able to award grants to non-profit organizations that are registered in the United States and classified as 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service. We are unable to fund individuals or organizations that do not meet this requirement. If you have a fiscal sponsor that meets this requirement, please proceed to Question 4.

4) Does your organization agree with the Lausanne Covenant?

  • Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

  • The Crowell Trust’s mission is the “teaching and active extension of the doctrines of Evangelical Christianity”. When Mr. Crowell established The Crowell Trust he wrote very explicit explanations of what he meant by the term “Evangelical Christianity” into The Crowell Trust Indenture. In order to ensure that we are funding those projects and organizations that Mr. Crowell himself would have wanted funds from his foundation to go to, our trustees require that an organization agree with this Statement of Beliefs.

5) Is your organization sponsored by or in a formal working relationship with a denomination?

  • In order to maintain our mandate to further Evangelical Christianity in general, our trustees have determined that we should not align The Crowell Trust with any specific denomination. We advise those organizations that are sponsored by or have formal relationships with denominations to seek funding through those channels that are available to them because of their ties to that denomination.

  • Thank you, please proceed to Question 6.

6) Are you a local church, or an organization that is managed by or shares facilities with a local church?

  • As you can imagine, we receive many more requests than we are able to assist with our own limited resources. In order to prioritize our consideration, The Crowell Trust relies on a set of guidelines to help us select those projects to which we can lend financial support. Local churches and church-managed organizations fall outside those guidelines.

  • Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

7) Are you a ministry that serves a local population of a specific US city, county, or region?

  • As you can imagine, we receive many more requests than we are able to assist with our own limited resources. In order to prioritize our consideration, The Crowell Trust relies on a set of guidelines to help us select those projects to which we can lend financial support. Ministries that serve a local population of a US city, county, or region fall outside those guidelines. Exceptions are occasionally made for ministries that are in the State of Colorado.

  • Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

8) Are you a pre-school or K-12 school?

  • As you can imagine, we receive many more requests than we are able to assist with our own limited resources. In order to prioritize our consideration, The Crowell Trust relies on a set of guidelines to help us select those projects to which we can lend financial support. Pre-schools and K-12 schools fall outside of those guidelines.

  • Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

9) Are you seeking funds for an endowment or for land acquisition or building construction?

  • As you can imagine, we receive many more requests than we are able to assist with our own limited resources. In order to prioritize our consideration, The Crowell Trust relies on a set of guidelines to help us select those projects to which we can lend financial support. Requests for funds for land acquisition, building construction (bricks and mortar), or endowments fall outside of those guidelines.

  • Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

10) Have you been in operation for more than 4 years?

  • Thank you for taking our eligibility questionnaire.

  • Thank you for taking our eligibility questionnaire. The Crowell Trust does not fund new or startup organizations. It would be a better use of your time and grant seeking efforts to connect with those sources of funding that are more open to funding newer organizations.
